Getting it right!
Hit the right note with your choice of tunes and celebrate your marriage with the party of a lifetime. We guide you through the musical maze to find the entertainment that’s right for you.
Music For Everyone
You may be a huge fan of hard house music but you can guarantee that your granny won’t feel the same way. It might be your party but you need to think about finding something that all your guests will enjoy. After all, if they don’t like the music you’ll end up with an empty dance floor all night.
Many couples choose a selection of their favourite songs from several different decades, to appeal to as many people as possible. A sixties or seventies medley always goes down well and gets all ages dancing together. Other good styles of music include soul, swing and jazz, the kind of music that makes you just want to get up and dance.
Keep It Live
Find the right band and you really can’ t beat live music for generating a party atmosphere – with live music, you really can’t go wrong. A band not only creates a great atmosphere from the start, but should also be able to play some of your favourites, as well as a few golden oldies for your more mature guests!
Even if someone has been recommended to you, be sure to listen to demo tapes and try to see the group live before making a firm booking. While many bands will be happy to add your favourite song to their repertoire, they’ll need plenty of time to practise if its not already on their play list, so be certain to mention this when confirming the booking.
Come on, DJ! Play My Song!
If your budget doesn’t run to booking a band, then a DJ and disco can equally make the party go with a swing. Although you probably don’t want to plan the entire play list – that’s better left to the professionals – it’s a good idea to request a few of your favourites. That way you’ll show the DJ what kind of style of music you like so they have something to go on. Equally, he will probably have many 60’s, 70’s and 80’s hits to keep all age groups happy! Get his advice on what songs are good floor fillers, guaranteed to get the party in full swing. If you have any particular pet hates tell them. Don’t risk the birdie song spoiling your entire evening!
